Washi Tape Layout

Hello! Samantha with you today. I while back I posted some washi tape Harry Potter cards that used washi to create the look of a patterned paper background. Now I want to show that you can just as easily make a washi tape layout to show off some of your favorite Paper House washi.

Supplies: Butterflies Washi Tape Set, Carole Shiber Hand-Painted Sunflowers Washi Tape Set, Butterflies Faux Enamel Sticker, This Is Us Family Life Weekly Kit, This is Us Family Life Mini Sticker Book, This Is Us Our Family Mini Sticker Book, White Card Stock

Whether you just really like the pattern on a roll of washi tape or you nabbed a washi tape grab bag and have lots of washi tape to use up, creating your own patterned paper from washi tape is a fun and easy way to use your washi.

Since my photo was quite large, I could use a busier washi tape and not draw too much attention from the photo. I striped 3 different rolls of washi, 2 smaller and one larger, to created a striped background on 3/4 of my piece of white card stock. Remember that most washi tape is translucent, so even if you plan on covering your entire piece of card stock with washi tape, make sure to use a neutral color like white.

Since the butterfly washi tape has gold foiling, I decided to mirror that gold in many of my embellishments. I used gold foiled faux enamel butterfly stickers and gold foiled stickers from the This Is Us collection.

Since my photo is so large, I added some of my embellishments directly on top of my photo.

While I used horizontal stripes for my layout, you could just as easily create diagonal or vertical stripes for another stunning washi tape layout background.

Autumn Cards

Hello! Samantha here with you. Fall is officially here, the temperatures are dropping (and so are the leaves), pumpkins are showing up everywhere, and combines are working overtime in my part of the world, so today I thought it would be the perfect time to share a pair of autumn cards.

Supplies: Autumn Woods Pumpkin Spice Double Sided Paper, Autumn Woods Woodland Friends Double Sided Paper, Autumn Woods Epoxy Stickers, Fall Leaves 3D Sticker, Birthday Faux Enamel Sticker

I wanted to create a set of autumn cards that featured Paper House’s gorgeous Fall Leaves 3D Stickers. The autumnal colors and gold foil accents make them the perfect focal point or accent for any fall themed card. I mixed the 3D Leaves Stickers with paper and embellishments from Paper House’s quintessential fall collection; Autumn Woods.

I made one card into a thank you card, primarily because I can never have (or send) enough thank you cards. The “so very grateful” greeting is a strip of paper directly from the Autumn Woods Woodland Friends double sided paper. I turned the second card into a birthday card with some help from a birthday faux enamel sticker. The gold foil of the enamel sticker pairs perfectly with the gold foiled 3D leaves. I layered the birthday greeting over a pumpkin that I cut from the same Autumn Woods Woodland Friends double sided paper that I cut the “so very grateful” greeting from. I happen to have a family member with an autumn birthday, so I already have plans for this fall themed birthday card.

Fall weather and cozy autumn cards are a perfect pair, and these cards are a fun way to send a personalized, handmade greetings.

Harry Potter Birthday Layout

Hello! Samantha here with you today. I’m back at it with more Harry Potter scrapbooking. It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a Potter fanatic, so I love finding new ways to combine papers and stickers from the Harry Potter collection to create something magical like this Harry Potter birthday layout.

Supplies: Marbelous 12″ Paper Pad, Harry Potter Icons Foil Paper, Harry Patter Chibi Washi Tape Set, Harry Potter Chibi 3D Sticker, Harry Potter Chibi Faux Enamel Stickers, Birthday 3D Stickers

Every year my husband and I make my kids’ birthday cakes. We’re by no means professional, but we always have a fun time trying to make something to fit the theme they request. For my oldest son’s 11th birthday, he requested a Harry Potter cake. Of course, I was super excited about the request! I usually make the cake and whip up the frosting, and my husband does the detail/drawing work. I loved how this Harry Potter cake turned out, and so did our son!

I like to mix, match, and layer multiple patterned papers when creating a layout. I loved the Chibi themed Harry Potter Icon paper for this layout. The Chibis just seem to fit a kid’s birthday theme. For more patterned paper to layer with the Chibi paper, I reached for my Marbelous paper pad. The greens, blues, and golds in Marbelous pair beautifully with the Harry Potter collection.

I had lots of Harry Potter embellishments to chose from. My new favorites are the Chibi 3D stickers. They have foil, and glitter, and are just so stinking cute. I also used some Chibi faux enamels, washi tape, and a birthday themed 3D stickers.

Harry Potter Washi Cards

Hello! Samantha here with you. Today I have a trio of Harry Potter washi cards to share. While I’m focusing on Harry Potter today (because I love all things Harry Potter), you could easily recreate these cards with any of Paper House’s amazing washi tapes.

Supplies: Harry Potter Chibi Scenes Washi Tape Set, Harry Patter Chibi Washi Tape Set, Harry Potter House Crests Washi Tape Set, Harry Potter Quidditch Washi Tape Set, Harry Potter House Crests Faux Enamel Stickers, Harry Potter Cardstock Stickers, Harry Potter Chibi 3D Sticker

If you’ve ever looked at a set of washi tape and wished it could be patterned paper, this is your chance! The house crest card was the first card I thought of with the Harry Potter Washi. Paired with the House Crest Faux Enamel stickers, you have quite a stunning card. The best part about this card is that you can customize it to the recipient’s Hogwarts House. I made this one for a Ravenclaw. I also added a little sorting hat detail in the upper left hand corner.

For this second card, I also striped the washi tape at a diagonal, but instead of two different washi tapes (like the house crest card) I used four. Honestly, I couldn’t decide whether I should use the Harry Potter Chibi Scenes Washi Tape Set or the Harry Patter Chibi Washi Tape Set, so I decided to just use both. I love the final result. For the embellishment on this card, I used a cardstock sticker.

For this last card, I used the Harry Potter Quidditch washi tape set to create a horizontal stripe pattern. Photos don’t do this card justice. The gold foil on the black quidditch washi really pops in person. For the embellishment on this card I used a Harry Potter Chibi 3D sticker.

I chose a variety of different types of embellishments so you could see that everything from cardstock stickers, to faux enamels, to 3D stickers will all work on washi tape cards.

I can’t wait to mail these out to some Harry Potter loving friends!

This Is Us Cards

Hello! Samantha here with something new. Today I’m combining some pretty patterned paper and stickers to create a pair of encouragement cards using the new This Is Us line.

Supplies: Sundrenched A Day at the Beach Foil Paper, This Is Us Bright Self Care Embellished Sticker, Be the Change Embellished Sticker, Just Be You Washi Tape Set, White Card Stock

There are lots of Paper House paper collections that match with a wide variety of the This Is Us collection (Marbellous, Colorwashed, and Stargazer are just a few of them), so the first step was choosing which paper and sticker combo I wanted. I decided on an encouragement theme, and since it’s summer right now, I wanted some bright and cheery encouragment cards. I noticed that papers from Sundrenched fit the bill; they matched the stickers and were bright and cheery.

There are a lot of different types of stickers as part of This Is Us, but I’ve found that 3D stickers make wonderful focal points for cards. Not only do they stand out because they’re 3D, but they often have glitter or foiling (or both) that really draws the eye to them.

I felt like both cards needed just a little something more, so I added a strip of washi tape for a pop of contrasting color and texture.

These are the first cards I created with This Is Us, but since there are so many great choices, I know they won’t be the last!

Family Swim Layout

Hello! Samantha here with a summery layout. Today I’m combining some of the newer tropical print papers with stickers from the brand new and super popular This is Us collection for a fun family swim layout.

Supplies: Flamingos Double Sided Paper, Flamingo Tags Double Sided Paper, Tropical Beach Double Sided Paper, Sundrenched Cardstock Multi Pack, Neon Tropical Faux Enamel Stickers, Mommy Lhey Blush Washi Tape Set, Just Be You Mini Sticker Book, Just Be You Weekly Kit

My youngest kiddo has always wanted a pool in the backyard. I’ve always said no, because they kill the grass and are a lot of work, and we have plenty of other places to swim. Well, this year with the extra long summer break, I was the one asking for the pool. We love having it and have spent lots of family time in it already!

I love the bright tropical prints in the Flamingo collection. The saturated pinks with the teal-y blue makes me happy just looking at it. I’ve found these prints really easy to mix, match, and layer too!

For embellishments, I started with some word stickers from the new This Is Us line. There are so many great stickers in this collection with lots of different color families and style “feels” that you’re bound to find something that matches your layout and your personality. While these stickers are super popular for planners, there are so many additional ways to use the This Is Us line! I also added a bit of Mommy Lhey washi tape and some gorgeous faux enamel stickers. The gold on the faux enamel stickers always adds something special to any layout.

Better With You Bloom Layout

Hello! Samantha here with you today. I’m feeling all the pink and flowers, so I’ve got a bloom layout to share featuring my adorable niece’s school photo.

Supplies: Love Always Double Sided Paper, Full Bloom Double Sided Paper, Rose Garden Tags Double Sided Paper, Rose Garden Double Sided Paper, Narwhal Faux Enamel Sticker, Paris Faux Enamel Sticker, Mommy Lhey Blush Washi Tape Set

First, I’ve got to say that I love that this is my niece’s school photo. I wish my kids’ school photos looked this good. I’m lucky if they don’t look like they’re being tortured, and all they use is the standard blue backdrop. This photo was too fun not to scrap.

Paper House Bloom papers are the perfect fit for this photo. The floral patterns and multiple shades of pink and coral create a soft and cheerful background for this photo.

I’m not sure if you can see it, but my niece is wearing shoes with unicorns on them in the picture. I had to make sure I used some unicorn embellishments to go with her shoes. The unicorn sticker and the flowers from the Narwhal Faux Enamel Sticker sheet matched perfectly with the Bloom papers and the photo!

To tie in a bit of the gray from the photo, I added some Mommy Lhey Blush washi tape. The washi tape also has gold foil on it, which is a nice way to pull all the embellishments together since the faux enamel stickers are also gold foiled.

For the title, I just used the year that the photo was taken. In place of journaling, I used a journaling card from the Rose Garden Tags patterned paper. This is one pretty school photo!

Mother’s Day Cards

Hello! Samantha here today. Mother’s Day is right around the corner, so I created a couple of Mother’s Day cards to share and hopefully inspire you.

Supplies: Full Bloom Double Sided Paper, Rose Garden Tags Double Sided Paper, Narhwal Faux Enamel Sticker, Mommy Lhey Blush Washi Tape Set, Carole Shiber Hand-Painted Honeybees Washi Tape Set, Inspirational Sticker Book

I’m loving these new Bloom papers. They are so very pretty with lovely floral outlines, and also extremely versatile. I love looking through Paper House’s other offerings of stickers, planner accessories, and washi tapes to find ways to embellish this collection. Depending on what you choose to use, the papers can take on a completely different feel. For example, in the card above I used black and gold washi tape. The addition of black on the card changes the whole mood of the card and makes it a bit more sophisticated.

For the card above, I focused on gold foil accents. I used some floral faux enamel stickers. I am a huge fan of the faux enamel stickers. They always add a special touch to any project, and they are flat enough to be used as an embellishment on a card and still be able to be mailed with standard postage. I also added some washi tape that has gold foil accents on it. The floral print washi from the Mommy Lhey Blush washi set has some gorgeous pops of gold throughout. Choosing floral embellishments to accent this card gives it a softer feel than the previous card.

I love creating handmade cards for Mother’s Day. Nothing sends love quite like a card you took the time to create with that specific person in mind. Whether your celebrating someone or being celebrated this Mother’s Day, I hope you have a wonderful one!

King’s Cross Layout

Hello! Samantha here with you. One of the most iconic places in the Harry Potter stories is King’s Cross and Platform 9 3/4. Today I’m using Paper House’s Harry Potter collection to scrap a few photos from King’s Cross in Orlando.

Supplies: Harry Potter Hogwarts at Night Foil Paper, Harry Potter Hufflepuff Tags Foil Paper, Harry Potter Gryffindor Tags Foil Paper, Harry Potter Planner Stickers, Harry Potter Icons Washi Tape

I think my absolute favorite thing about this collection (besides that it’s Harry Potter) is all of the gold foil. You will find it everywhere in the collection; from the papers to the washi to the stickers. The pops of gold help tie everything together and make the layout look cohesive.

Since I had one photo that was horizontal and one that was vertical, I decided to set my layout up in a bit of a grid shape. I primarily chose embellishments that were rectangles.

When I got my photos and embellishments laid out, it felt like something was still missing. I grabbed some washi tape and added strips to the top, middle and bottom of the layout. This really grounded the elements of the layout and gave it a finished feel. When in doubt, washi tape is almost always the right answer!

Quite a few years ago, my friend and I took a quick trip to Orlando to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (yes, I am that much of a geek). We had so much fun, and I have so many photos just sitting on my computer. I am so thrilled to be using Paper House’s Harry Potter collection to slowly work my way through those photos. It was such a fun trip and it deserves to be scrapped!

Basketball Layout

Hello! Samantha here with you today. Football season ended, and less than a week later basketball season started. I love every minute of watching my kids grow, challenge themselves, and learn through sports. I also love trying to capture some of those moments in this basketball layout.

Supplies: All Star Sports Paper Pad, Basketball Essentials Sticker, Basketball Washi Tape Set

The All Star Sports paper pad has a mix of sports papers in it and one card stock sticker sheet. I think my favorite paper in the whole pad might just be the paper with all the hexagons. Not only is it a really fun piece of patterned paper, but the outline of all the hexagons is a metallic silver that just add so much to the layout. There’s the added bonus that it coordinates with every other piece of paper in the collection!

In my world, no layout is complete without some of Paper House’s fabulous 3D Stickers. I used one of the larger ones for my basketball title and to add a bit of dimension to the center of my photos with the 3D basketball.

I needed something to ground the layout at the bottom, so I added some basketball washi tape. The basketball washi tape comes as a set. You get both the die cut basketballs and the black and metallic silver striped washi tape. You might be noticing that I love the metallic silver touches that run all through this collection and the coordinating embellishments.

I completed the layout with some card stock stickers (7th Grade) clustered up with a few more 3D stickers.

No matter what sports season you’re in right now Paper House has just the sticker for that!
