Sundrenched Layout

Hello! Samantha here with you. Summer is in full swing at our house. It is full of playing outside, summer sports, and the occasional over night trip to somewhere fun. Today I have a Sundrenched layout documenting a little bit of silliness on one of those overnight trips.

Summer Fun Layout-002

While my husband had to work, the kids and I got to spend the day playing. We sent him this photo to tease him about that fact that we got to swim while he had to sit in meetings.

Sundrenched is a collection full of bright, saturated, summery colors. There are also lots of pops of metallic throughout the collection papers. To keep everything cohesive, I chose to make sure that I used gold metallic accents to carry the theme throughout the layout. Choosing at least one cohesive element helps keep from overwhelming the eye.

Sundrenched has a coordinating Cardstock Multi Pack, but in addition to the the Color Washed Cardstock Multi Pack also goes beautifully with this collection. The words “smile” and “love” on my layout were taken from Color Washed.

I like to use a lot of dimensional adhesive and a mix of flat stickers and 3D stickers on my layouts. This helps to keep everything from just blending and running together. Your eye picks up on the different levels to the layering and sees more separation between images, journaling, and photos.

Traveler’s Notebook – Beach Trip Memories

Laura Cox Circle PH 2018

Hi everyone!  Laura here with you all today!  As a scrapbooker, I love making albums full of memories.  Lately, I’ve found a great new way to take notes and remember the trips we go on…..a traveler’s notebook.  Paper House has some gorgeous ones!

We love our yearly trip to North Carolina and the beautiful beaches there.  The Paper House Tropical Journey Book is a perfect fit for this years road trip!

The Sun Drenched 12×12 Paper Pad and Sun Drenched Cardstock Stickers pair up to make great accents for the notebook.

Paper House washi tape is always fun to use in a travel journal or planner.  It’s easy to layer on cardstock and die cut to make great accents, or to use as borders.

It’s also great to mix and match with the Sun Drenched Cardstock Stickers which include an alpha in addition to the beach themed stickers.

The Sun Drenched papers and stickers are great for creating little scenes on your page and all compliment each other perfectly.  And those cute little starfish and seahorses on this page are part of the Micro Stickers collection from Paper House Life Organized. They are a good way to highlight bullet points you’d like to make sure to remember.

The different sizes of washi tape in each of the Paper House washi sets make great page dividers, or you can layer them together to make wider borders.

And to wrap it all up, the embossed outer cover is so detailed, has a band to secure everything, and you can add a cute little charm to add a little extra something.

This charm, is a simple paper clip, with 2 paper circles glued together over it, and a Neon Tropical Faux Enamels sticker.  A great little finish to this road trip journey notebook!

Scrapbook Layout Background Technique with Washi Tape

Laura Cox Circle PH 2018

Hi everyone!  Laura here today!  I’ve got a fun little quick scrapbook page idea to share with you today, using Paper House washi tape to make your own background paper!

Washi and Ink Happiness PH2018

The cool background on this paper was just a plain color-washed orange….one of the papers from the Paper House Sun Drenched 12×12 paper pad.  Very pretty but I wanted to mimic the line of the horizon on the picture a little bit and add a little more interest to the background, so I used a roll of Paper House washi tape. So much comes on one roll, that you can use it for fun techniques like this and still have plenty for many, many projects!  So using the washi, I lined the paper in different widths with like you see here:

And after I did that…..I used a good blending ink and a sponge applicator, and applied it to the surface.  The washi tape, resists the ink of course…..so the result when the washi is removed is this awesome effect:

How fun is that?!!  So simple, but a lot of impact!  Washi tape has so many options!

Scrapbook Layout Featuring Wonder Woman Planner Stickers

PHP Intro ImageHappy March! I cannot believe how quickly this year is going already. How are you doing with getting your stories told? One story that I have been wanting to tell for awhile is about my nickname (Wonder Woman). As soon as Paper House Productions released their Wonder Woman products, I knew that I just had to use them to get this story told.

This layout was sparked by this keychain photo. My kids bought me this keychain to help remind me how strong they think that I am and because they all call me Wonder Woman. Sometimes, this little reminder can definitely help make it through a tough day so I wanted to make sure that I documented this phase of life since everything seems to change so quickly.

I started out by tracing a couple of plates from my kitchen to create the circles for the background that I wanted to hand-stitch. Then, I printed off an online coloring book page (these are great if you haven’t ever tried it) to use as a template for creating my paper-pieced Wonder Woman logo. That yellow paper is from the Sundrenched Paper Pad and it worked perfectly to create a subtle mixed media look without any mess!

Next, I created a little flip tab on the top left corner and used by mini stapler to attach it the background. That gave me a perfect little home for this puffy sticker of Wonder Woman as well as a couple of stars.

Finally, it was time for some embellishing and a title. I added stickers from the Wonder Woman Planner Stickers booklet all around my photo and then added some puffy sticker stars from the Justice League Chibi Heroes Puffy Stickers sets. A title and some journaling and this layout was complete!

I am really looking forward to playing with these licensed products even more as I have lots of superhero dress-up photos of my kids as well as Halloween costumes, plays, and a custom bat mobile bed that my little guy used to have…but those are stories for a different day! I hope that you enjoyed seeing how I documented my superhero nickname and I will see you again soon!

Beachy Bookmarks Featuring The Sun Drenched Paper Pad

Katie King CircleHi everyone! I don’t know about you, but I am tired of cold weather! I live in Ohio and the weather here cannot seem to make up its mind. One day it’s freezing cold, one day it’s snowing and then we have those days where we get a glimmer of hope that warm weather actually exists. It’s during this roller coaster of weather changes, that I wish I was on a warm beach somewhere. Now, even though I don’t see a warm beach in my future anytime soon, I can still do my favorite beach activity which is reading!

To bring a little beachy warmth into my life and into yours, today we are making Beachy Bookmarks! These bookmarks were created using a new paper pad by Paper House which is the Sun Drenched 12’’ Paper Pad. This paper pad contains 48 colorful sheets of paper and is packed full of different ”beach themes”.  Also, the nice thing about this paper pad is that it comes with a full sticker sheet which includes individual letters, phrases, and decorative stickers.

When you combine this paper pad with a lamination machine, you get the perfect ”water-proof” bookmarks which are perfect for a day at the beach!

Beachy Bookmarks Featuring The Sun Drenched Paper Pad

To create your own Beachy Bookmarks featuring the Sun Drenched Paper Pad, you would do the following:

Step 1

Step 1: Go through the Sun Drenched paper pad and pick out your favorite pieces of scrapbooking paper. Once you have chosen your favorite pieces, cut out rectangles which are 6 inches by 1 1/2 inches. Finally, using your hole punch, punch a hole at the top of your rectangle.

Before we move on to step 2, I do want to mention a couple of things that you might want to keep in mind while you are cutting out your bookmarks.

1. If you are someone who likes bookmarks with rounded corners, now would be time to round the corners before you laminate your bookmarks.

2. While cutting out your bookmarks, look for ways in which you can incorporate the design of the scrapbooking paper into your bookmark. For example, many of the pages in the Sun Drenched paper pad have words written on them. These pages make the best bookmarks (like my Beachy Keen or Sunkissed bookmark) because they already look like ”store-bought” bookmarks.

3. Don’t forget to use the stickers that come with the paper pad! Adding a simple sticker to a decorative piece of paper (like my Seahorse bookmark) is all you need to create a cute bookmark.

Step 2

Step 2: When you are done decorating/cutting out your bookmarks, laminate each of them using your favorite type of lamination method (I used Xyron). Once your bookmarks have been lamented, trim the excess laminate and re-punch the hole at the top.

Step 3

Step 3: Now grab your yarn or ribbon and feed it through the hole in your bookmark. While doing this step, you can also add extra embellishments (like a button) to your yarn or ribbon before you tie it off.

Once you are done decorating, you are now ready to use your bookmarks!

I might have made too many bookmarks, but a reader should have some options!

One thing that I didn’t show in the tutorial, that you could totally do, is scrapbook or journal a past beach adventure onto your bookmark. For example, you could cut out your paper for your bookmark and then use it as a mini scrapbooking page. Then once you are happy with how your bookmark looks, you could then continue with the rest of the steps. By doing this, you would truly have a customized bookmark which gives you all those beachy vibes!
