Planning in a Traveler’s Notebook

Caitlyn Storm Circle Hello everyone! It’s Caitlyn up on the blog today and I can not believe that it is my last post with Paper House Productions on the design team! This opportunity has been absolutely amazing and I’m so sad that the Winter/Spring term is ending. I have learned a lot and I have grown a ton on my journey on the design team and I am so glad that I got to be among so much talent.

During my time with Paper House Productions I have had a lot of time to work with a ton of different products. However I never touched one specific product – the journaling stickers. I am such a huge planner, but for some reason I never picked them up! That definitely needed to change and after using these stickers – totally in love!

Planning in a traveler's notebook

I have no idea why I haven’t used the journaling stickers sooner. They are absolutely amazing and look great with whatever you create! These stickers make planning in a traveler’s notebook an absolute dream and I can’t wait to use these even more. I knew I didn’t need two pages devoted to planning this week due to a crazy work schedule so I decided to throw in some memory keeping as well! I love that the Journey Books give the freedom to truly create whatever you’d like! Some weeks I just want to memory plan and some weeks I want to plan. In this case I figured both would work out well!

Planning in a traveler's notebook

I absolutely adore that the journaling sticker sets are all made with a clear matte material. I love matte stickers since they’re super easy to write on and these just look great! There are so many different options in each set that it’s very easy to mix and match the

The Monday night I decided to use as my memory keeping was absolutely beautiful. When I was flipping through the Be Happy paper pad, I spotted the Make Life Magical deco piece and it was absolutely perfect. I went through some of my other products and spotted the moon and stars puffy sticker from the Great Outdoors line and felt that would be a cute accent. Into the book it went!

Artist Trading Cards Using Color Washed Paper Pack

Caitlyn Storm CircleHey, everyone, it’s Caitlyn! I have a question for all of you today – what is your favorite item by Paper House Productions when it comes to scrapbooking or planning? I had to think about the answer to this question for a long time, but then it hit me while I was working on a project.

My favorite item is the paper. The paper is so amazingly versatile and I have used it in almost every single project that I have done so far. From adding it to the wood piece for my quote board to creating planner stickers, it has done so much for me. The color washed paper pack has been my go-to paper pack for beautiful splashes of color. I love the paper.

Artist Trading Card

At the end of the month I’ll be attending an art class with a designer. I knew I wanted to have something to swap with the other attendees when Artist’s Trading Cards came to mind. While I wasn’t sure exactly what direction I wanted to go with these at the start, I knew all I needed to do was grab my trusted Color Washed paper pack in order to get started.

Artist Trading Cards Using Color Washed Paper Pack

The first thing I did was go through all of the pages and pull out my favorites. In addition to going through Color Washed paper pack, I pulled a few sheets from the Marbleous paper pad  just in case. You never know what will cause inspiration to strike so I opted to choose as many different options as possible.

atc2

Once my sheets were picked, I moved into cutting them into 2″ x 3″ inch rectangles. The papers found in the paper packs are so different from each other with a ton of variety. Since there is so much variation just on one sheet of paper it made my job that much easier. I had a lot of options to choose from just one sheet – all I had to do was create the rest of my design!

To make this project even easier I picked one of my favorite stamp sets to use containing different women. I would take a pile of my cut rectangles, stamp one of the women on the page, and then stamped the word “artist” in a blank space.

atc6

Once the first part of the card was completed I opted to add a black piece of cardstock as a backer. This helped to make the card pop even more! To add additional variety, I rounded out the corners on a few cards.

It’s amazing how something as simple as paper can help to create an amazing project! I can’t wait to swap with everyone else at the class. These were just too enjoyable!

Easy Memory Keeping Spread in a Traveler’s Notebook

Caitlyn Storm Circle Hey, everyone! Caitlyn back up on the blog today! Today I’m going to show you how easy it is to put together a memory keeping spread in Paper House’s new Journey Books!

It’s no secret that I love memory keeping, but sometimes you want to work on projects on a smaller scale. I’m going to show you just how easy it is to put together a memory keeping spread in a traveler’s notebook!

Easy memory keeping spread in a traveler's notebook

The combination of Paper House Productions products really helps to tie in layouts. You can truly create beautiful spreads just using a few different pieces!

TravelersNotebook2

One of my biggest tips for putting together memory keeping spreads is to use big elements! The serene and beautiful colors from the Color Washed Paper Pad were perfect for this spread. Flipping through the paper pad, my eyes were drawn to the blue and white paper. The way the gold foil elements are set up on the page meant that it had just enough decoration that I didn’t need to touch it. The quotes on the right page also came from the Color Washed Paper Pad. The “best is yet to come” quote felt perfect for this spread.

Using both my Xyron tape runner and 3″ sticker maker, I was able to get these pieces in quick and easy. To finish off my page on the left, I used a rounded corner punch to better fit the page.

Easy memory keeping spread in a traveler's notebook

The best truly is yet to come, but these little moments are pretty close to being the all time best.

Easy memory keeping spread in a traveler's notebook

To finish off this spread, I included some hexagon diecuts from a different sheet of paper from the Color Washed Paper Pad. They helped to balance out this spread some more and add a fun little focal element.

I hope that this inspired you to try out a memory keeping spread in your own traveler’s notebook! I know I definitely enjoyed putting this together. See you all next time!

Quick Ten Minute Planner Clips Using Washi Tape

Caitlyn Storm Circle

Hey, everyone! Hope you’ve had a wonderful start to spring so far! It’s Caitlyn back on the blog to show you how to make some really easy planner clips! Want to know how easy? They should take 10 minutes or less! Wow.

Planner clips are such an easy way to add personality to your planner. Those within the traveler’s notebook community truly take their planner clip game to the max. Often times you’ll see photographs of just the top part of their notebook, showing off all of the beautiful clips they’ve collected. The best part of these particular clips is how different you can make these – just by using washi tape!

Planner clips using washi tape

washiplannerclips2

There are several steps to take to get to the point shown in the photograph above. The first step is to take thin cardboard, like from a cereal box. Once you have your chosen material, you can start to create your diecuts. Place strips of washi on your material in any order that you would like.

Depending on how you’re cutting your diecut, these next few steps will change. For this particular project, I used a stamp and diecut set. I stamped my design first and then moved along to cutting the diecut. It’s very important to line your diecut up with the stamp. If you’re not using a stamp you can proceed to just cutting the diecut.

Planner clips using washi tape

Now we can start assembling your clips. Take one of your die cut pieces and lay it face down, blank side up. Use your Xyron tape runner to apply adhesive to the bottom portion of your die cut. Then place your paper clip down on the adhesive.

washiplannerclips4

Instead of using the tape runner for the other half of the clip, I used my Xyron Sticker Maker. Using Xyron’s Sticker Maker machine allows me to add adhesive to pieces quickly and accurately. To add adhesive place your element into the machine, keeping the design side up. Then you will pull the adhesive paper on the other side to help guide the object through the machine. The Sticker Maker helps you make sure that you have adhesive on the full design. This helps to create a nice seal on your two diecut pieces, making sure that your paperclip will stay in place.

Planner clips using washi tape

In this photo you can see the first clip completed. I very carefully matched the shape to the second diecut and then pressed the two pieces together, creating a sandwich. I then repeated this process two more times to put together the other two clips.

Planner clips using washi tape

Now you should have your completed planner clips! The total time from start to finish each clip was around 10 minutes, making this particular project not only easy, but fast.

I hope you all enjoyed this super easy project! I hope you all start to create your own planner clips to add to your planners.

Celestial Themed Planner Spread

Caitlyn Storm Circle

Happy first day of spring, everyone! It’s me Caitlyn, back to show you another planner spread.

I don’t know about you, but I am super excited for spring to finally arrive. We have had our weather range from absolutely glorious to down right frigid in the north east. I’m hoping that the official start of spring starts to bring in some beautiful warm weather.

One of my new favorite things to do is partake in astrophotography. Unfortunately it has just been too cold to go outside late at night to take photos of the stars! The best way to fix this problem? Bring the stars inside (and to my planner)! BestIdeaEver. Creating a celestial themed planner spread is the perfect way to fix my issue!

celestial themed planner spread

In order to best showcase this spread, I decided to share this spread as a “before the pen” shot. Adding in pen would have made this spread extremely distracting in these shots!

Putting together this spread was extremely easy. I took a sheet of black cardstock, cut it to the correct size of the boxes and used a tape runner to adhere it to the top set of boxes. Obviously I couldn’t stop the spread right there so I went in and used the brand new Stargazer washi set to add just a little bit of decoration. Obviously I couldn’t stop there – there was a huge section that just needed to be decorated!

celestial themed planner spread

I used two different faux enamel sticker packs for my decorations. I used the Stargazer Faux enamels and the Celestial Faux Enamel Stickers. The combination of these two sets worked wonderfully. Celestial added beautiful constellation stickers and the beautiful quote highlighted and the Stargazer set added bold stars and decorative crystals. To help fill out my own personal night sky, I enlisted the help of additional star stickers from the Stargazer micro sticker set.

Piecing together a planner spread doesn’t need to be complicated at all! Paper House Productions makes things very easy since each set has multiple coordinating pieces! I know when you first start out with decorative planning it can be really intimidating, but don’t be afraid!

I hope that my little bit of the galaxy inspired you to create your own little version in your planner!

See you all next time!

Wonder Woman Planner Spread

Caitlyn Storm CircleHello, everyone! It’s me Caitlyn back with my first post for March!

March is generally when my year starts to truly pick up. We finally start to move out of the hum drum and bleak colors of the winter months and into the gentle warmth of the soft colors of spring. While I normally gravitate towards pastels at this time of the year I decided that I needed to do something a little different. I recently watched the Wonder Woman movie for the first time and with all of the wonderful Wonder Woman products Paper House Productions has to offer it was only fitting. This month we’re going bold with the help of Wonder Woman!

wonder woman planner spread

It’s not often that I have the opportunity to include my monthly spread at the beginning of the month. I usually like to fill this in as a I go, but as I mentioned at the very beginning this month is busier than usual. This month I’m relying on the monthly view to show me where I need to be and when. Trust me, almost every day this month will be filled with at least one thing by the end.

cslicensed2

I couldn’t bring myself to write in this spread – not just yet! Sometimes less is more and I feel that was the case for the weekly spread this week. The Wonder Woman Planner Sticker set provided 90% of the weekly spread with some added elements from the Wonder Woman Micro Stickers. The micro stickers added little pops of excitement to the weekly spread. The smaller elements of the micro stickers also helped to balance out the heavier elements such as the full box stickers and the skinny sidebar sticker. I also included the skinny washi from the Superman Logo Washi Tape set as it matched the color scheme perfectly.

cslicensed3

The long and skinny sticker from the Wonder Woman Planner Sticker set worked wonderfully in the side bar! The giant “To Do” list allows me to have more space to write the important things that I need to remember. I knew that I didn’t have any birthdays to worry about my goals would be the things that I needed to do. Any other month I more than appreciate the different sections, but this month it just isn’t needed!

wonder woman planner spread

I love that the square stickers in the Wonder Woman Planner Sticker set fits in the boxes in the monthly layout! I included mine at the beginning of the month since I didn’t enjoy the blank space there would’ve been due to the month change, but you can put them anywhere! The Wonder Woman 2″ stickers helped add some additional decorative elements to help fill in some space.

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s post and have some inspiration for your own Wonder Woman planner spread!

Valentine’s Day Week Planner Spread

Caitlyn Storm CircleHello, everyone! It’s me Caitlyn and I’m here to show you my Valentine’s Day week planner spread. Even though this spread was designed with Valentine’s Day themes in mind, it can truly work for any time of the year! The blush colors and pops of colors

I can not begin to explain how excited I am that this week is over. I was not aware of how crazy it was about to get when I decorated my planner spread. My original goal was to have something really pretty and decorated, but as it turned out I needed it to be functional! Luckily with the help of some of the Life Organized stickers I was able to fit most of my plans in one spot without sacrificing space!

valentine's

I am someone who adores big elements in their planner spreads. Some weeks it’s a lot more decorative than functional, but this week I needed to make sure I had the best of both worlds. I knew some days would be busier than others and I tried to keep that in mind the best that I could.

This week I decided to block out the entire middle section utilizing this flotal pattern sheet from the Be Happy Paper Pad. On the days where my schedule was less chaotic, I pulled the geometric triangle sheet from the Be Happy Paper Pad and created my own full box stickers. Even though the two patterns were very different they worked very well together. Utilizing scrapbook paper in your planner spread is truly one of my favorite things to do because it’s so versatile!

valentinesday2

In order to keep myself more on track I took advantage of several different sticker sets. The Life Organized sticker sets are tailored perfectly to specific needs and work great when you don’t want to write as much. As I mentioned before, this spread was influenced by Valentine’s Day with its colors, but I had to include some holiday stickers! I knew I didn’t want to use a full check box sticker for Tuesday so I opted to use the Candy Hearts micro stickers to create my own check list! Not only does it look cute it also adds its own little personality to the spread. Valentine’s Day itself also deserved its own special decorations. Don’t they look cute?

valentine's day week planner spread

Sticker layering is another great way to add personality and life to your planner spreads! This little piggy bank sticker from the Budget Functional Sticker set is too cute and he needed to be included. I thought I would give him some little money wings since Thursday was not only pay day but also bill paying day – yuck! Putting my little flying pig made the reminder that I needed to pay bills a little fun.

That’s all I have for this week. Thank you for checking out my planner spread and I’ll see you all next time!

Memory Keeping Spread in the Free Spirit Planner

Caitlyn Storm CircleHello, again! It’s Caitlyn back on the blog today and I’m here to show you something a little bit different you can do with your planner.

Growing up, I was always surrounded by my mom scrapbooking. It was never something that I found interest in as a child, but I was always in awe of the scrapbooking layouts that she would create. While my mom and I were always creative together, scrapbooking was always the one thing that I avoided doing. She could ask me to do anything else, but scrapbooking? Forget about it! It’s funny how years later the tables have completely turned and I have slowly made my journey into scrapbooking, just in a different medium.

Memory keeping in my planner is one of my absolute favorite things to do. Sometimes I don’t want to actually plan and I get into a slump. In order to help combat those feelings, I memory keep! There are plenty of ways to create a hybrid layout with memory keeping and planning, but before I show you ways of doing that, I wanted to show you a memory keeping week.

memory keeping spread in free spirit planner

With Valentine’s Day coming up so soon, I thought it would be fun to reminisce on my first Valentine’s with my fiancé. To put together this spread I utilized only five different sheets of paper in addition to the included stickers in the Be Happy Paper Pad. I used one full sheet for the main portion of this spread and then pulled select elements from the other sheets.

memorykeepingbehappy1.2

Using scrapbooking paper is such an easy way to decorate any of your planner spreads and makes a world of difference in memory keeping. You can use all the stickers in the world to decorate, but something as simplistic as paper can make a huge difference.

memory keeping spread in free spirit planner

The Be Happy Paper Pad has plenty of different elements that work perfectly for journaling or even as photo backers. You’re sure to find something that will make your memory keeping spread pop and look beautiful!

Check out my video to see how I put together this layout and see the thought process from start to finish. The way I envisioned this spread is different than the eventual outcome, but it came out a lot better than I planned! Sometimes the best thing in life truly aren’t planned and this memory keeping spread is proof of that.

Thanks for stopping by and I can’t wait to see you all next time.

Tropical Paradise Planner Spread

HeyCaitlyn Storm Circle, everyone! Caitlyn here with another planner spread for you to be inpsired by! This week I decided to aim for a sunny, warm, and tropical theme – nothing like tricking your brain into feeling warm during a cold spell!

Ever since we were hit with a crazy blizzard over here on the east coast, I have been dreaming of being somewhere warm and sunny! Possibly somewhere exotic with white sand beaches and crisp blue water. Ah, wouldn’t that be a dream? Since I can’t afford to travel anywhere exotic at the moment, I decided the next best place to recreate this dream was in my planner!

tropical paradise planner spread

All of the bright colors I used in my spread this week just make me beyond happy! There’s nothing like opening up your planner and being welcomed by joyful colors and beautiful designs.

tropical planner spreadThe stick on pockets are such a great addition to your planner spread! With having a busy week between the dentist and grocery shopping (and birthday present finding!), I’ll need a spot to keep my appointment card and receipts! What better way to keep everything together? Not only do you have something that’s super functional, you have a super easy decoration to include! It’s almost as if I picked a beautiful hibiscus flower and added it into my planner – love it!

I decided to pull one of the full box stickers from the Kawaii Planner Sticker set to add to this spread. I love taking full box planner stickers and cutting them diagonally. Sometimes you become inspired by a certain pattern or design, but want to use it in more than one spot. You can see an example of how I do this on Tuesday and Sunday.

tropical paradise planner spreadPuffy stickers are amazing. I was enjoying everything that I had so far, but I wanted my planner spread to pop some more. Best way to have it pop? Add some puffy stickers and have it really pop!

phptropical2.4Super easy planner tip? Add decorative clips to the top of your planner to make sure you’re always in the right spot! Find your clip, or clips, and open up to the correct pages! Plus planner clips look amazing when you see them peeking out over the top of your planner!

Free Spirit Boho Inspired Planner Spread

Caitlyn Storm CircleHey, everyone! Caitlyn here and I’m so excited to be making my debut here on the Paper House Productions blog. I am a huge planner addict and I’m excited to be sharing some of my favorite tips and tricks and planner spreads with you. Creating in a planner is a lot easier than you would think and my goal is to show you how much fun it is!

January is the time where I try to get myself set up for the new year. When the new year comes around it means taking the time to learn a new planner and create the style that will come with it. Luckily the Life Organized line makes things really easy! With my Free Spirit planner by my side, I am ready to take on 2018!

boho inspired planner spread

The monthly view for this planner is gorgeous! There is plenty of space to include multiple events for each day that you want to see in one glance. In addition to ample space for your every day, there are helpful sections in your side bar! Each section in the side bar helps to keep your month on track without sacrificing space for your day to day events!

boho inspired planner spread

Getting into the weekly view was just as enjoyable as the monthly! I personally like to write my plans as they come to mind, but the layout is broken up into thirds. Depending on your personal style you could divide each section into morning, afternoon, and evening or follow my personal style and just write it in!

For this first week I opted to utilize the bottom section to write down my different goals for the year! For each day I wrote down a category and my top three goals for that category. The weekend days I devoted to including my personal goals that I wanted to focus on. I wound up coming up with a lot more than three things, but all of it can be done! The best part of coming up with my goals? I was able to use the super cute stickers found in the back of the planner to help keep them organized!

Each piece of the Free Spirit line helps you to create the perfect boho inspired planner spread! It’s so easy to coordinate each piece to fit your needs.

boho inspired planner spread

I adore full box stickers! Some days you don’t have a lot to write down and it makes decorating your planner spread that much more of a breeze.

boho inspired planner spread

Being able to utilize the functional stickers in my planner is so helpful! Not only does it save me on having to write, it gives me a chance to add some more cute features to my spread!
